Engineers PEI Engineering Award for Excellence
In order to recognize eminent Professional Engineers within Prince Edward Island and in particular to promote excellence in the areas of applied research, design, innovation, industrial problem solving, construction, technology transfer and project management the above award was established.
Eligibility for Award
In making its recommendation for the award, the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following candidate requirements:

Registration as a member of Engineers PEI |
| 2. |
Recognition of achievements which have been developed or carried out in Prince Edward Island or are pertinent to Prince Edward Island. |
| 3. |
Preference will be given to major achievement (project/product/process etc.) completed within the past five years. |
Nominations for Award
Nominations may be submitted by the general membership of Engineers PEI, the Nominating Committee or the Council. The Selection Committee will review nominations at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient background information and necessary documentation. The number of awards given will be limited to one per year but an award will not necessarily be made every year.
Selection Committee
The Awards Committee will have the responsibility of reviewing all the nominations for the award to determine whether or not an award is to be given. The Committee will submit its recommendations for the award to Council for approval.
Criteria for Selection
Consideration will be given to accomplishments within
the engineering profession and to recognition earned.
Nominations for this award will be rated primarily on
work related achievements such as the practice of
engineering, the teaching of engineering and engineering
research.
The following criteria may also be applied:

Service to the profession including public education and understanding of the role of engineering in Canadian society and active participation in engineering associations, societies or institutions. |
| 2. |
Service to the community including commissions, voluntary organizations and community organizations. |
| 3. |
Enhancement of the quality of life through engineering and other
works. |
Presentation of Awards
The awards will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of Engineers PEI.

Engineers PEI Award for Engineering Achievement
The Engineers PEI Award for Engineering Achievement recognizes an outstanding engineering project involving Engineers PEI members that has had a significant positive impact on society and /or industry and/or the practice of engineering.
Eligibility for Award
In making its recommendation for the award, the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following project requirements:
| 1. |
Be an outstanding engineering project that was conceived, designed and executed with significant input from Engineers PEI members. |
| 2. |
Be an outstanding engineering project that has had a significant impact on society, industry, and/or engineering. |
| 3. |
Projects should have been completed within five years prior to the year of the presentation of the award. |
Nominations for Award
Nominations may be submitted by the general membership of Engineers PEI or by the Nominating Committee or Council. The Selection Committee will review nominations at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient background information and necessary documentation (maximum 10 pages). Proposals must be approved by the organization responsible for the project. The number of awards given will be limited to one per year but an award will not necessarily be made every year.

The Awards Committee will have the responsibility of reviewing all the nominations for the award to determine whether or not an award is to be given. The Committee will submit its recommendations for the award to Council for approval.
Criteria for Selection
Consideration will be given to the magnitude of impact a project has had on society, and/or industry and/or engineering. The following are examples of some factors the Awards Committee will consider:

The number of individuals whose lives have been positively affected, the magnitude of the impact created and the importance to the economic and social
well being of the province. |
| 2. |
The ingenuity displayed in the conception, design and execution, whether it can be applied to other engineering projects and whether it has advanced the field of engineering. |
| 3. |
The complexity, the cost effectiveness and further applicability of the solutions used to overcome problems. |
| 4. |
The magnitude of the provincial growth created and whether this was achieved in a manner that promoted sustainable development and/or minimized environmental impacts. |
| 5. |
The extent to which a project met client expectations and whether it was completed on time and within budget. |
Presentation of Awards
The awards will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of Engineers PEI. |

Engineers PEI Young Engineer Achievement Award
The Engineers PEI Young Engineer Achievement Award recognizes exceptional achievements by outstanding young engineers in their chosen field of engineering. The presentation of this award is also intended to assist in the furtherance of public understanding of the role of a professional engineer.
Eligibility of Award
In making its recommendation for the award, the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following candidate requirements:

Registration as a member of Engineers PEI, normally under 36 years of age. |
| 2. |
Have carried out a major engineering related achievement. |
Nominations for Award
Nominations may be submitted by the general membership of Engineers PEI or by the Nominating Committee or Council. The Selection Committee will review nominations at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient background information and necessary documentation. The number of awards given will be limited to one per year but an award will not necessarily be made every year.

Engineers PEI Community Service Award
The Engineers PEI Community Service Award recognizes engineers who have combined a professional career with outstanding service to their community. This award will acknowledge outstanding service and dedication to Canadian society through voluntary participation in community organizations, government sponsored activities or humanitarian work.
The contribution may be made in any one or more of the fields of social service, church work, politics, education, sport, recreation or the arts. Contribution may be through voluntary or paid service. Continuous activity over a period is an asset.
Eligibility for Award
In making its recommendation for the award the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following candidate requirements:

Registration as a member of Engineers PEI. |
| 2. |
Have carried out outstanding work in community service. |
Nominations for Award

The awards will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of
Engineers PEI.
The Ralph L. Woodside Memorial Award for Service to the Profession
The Ralph L. Woodside Memorial Award for Service to the Profession shall be made to members of the Engineers PEI who has given meritorious service to the Engineering Profession and to technical or learned societies or organizations. This service will include leadership and dedication to the association or to other professional engineering related societies over a sustained period of time.
Eligibility for Award
In making its recommendation for the award the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following candidate requirements:

Registration as a member of Engineers PEI. |
| 2. |
Have given outstanding service to and advanced the interests of the engineering profession. |
| 3. |
Have been a member of Engineers PEI for at least 10
years. |

Nominations may be submitted by the general membership of Engineers PEI or the Nominating Committee or Council. The Selection Committee will review nominations at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient background information and necessary documentation. The number of awards given will be limited to one per year but an award will not necessarily be made every year.

Friend of the Profession Award
The Engineers PEI Friend of the Profession Award is intended to recognize and pay tribute to a significant contribution by a layperson to the practice of engineering in Prince Edward Island.
Eligibility for Award
In making its recommendation for the award the Selection Committee will be guided but not bound by the following candidate requirements:
| 1. |
Shall not be a Professional Engineer. |
| 2. |
Have contributed significantly to the cause of engineering by providing opportunities for engineers and supporting them in their work. |
| 3. |
Have displayed traits associated with the engineering profession such as quality of work, fair treatment of clients, employees and peers, and ethical conduct. |
Nominations for Award
Nominations may be submitted by the general membership of Engineers PEI or the Nominating Committee or Council. The Selection Committee will review nominations at least two months prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations must be accompanied by sufficient background information and necessary documentation. The number of awards given will be limited to one per year but an award will not necessarily be made every year.
Selection Committee
The Awards Committee will have the responsibility of reviewing all the nominations for the award to determine whether or not an award is to be given. The Committee will submit its recommendation for an award to the Council for approval.
Criteria for Selection
This award is to be based on an overall assessment of the value of the contribution made to the engineering profession by a nominee in conformity with the conditions for eligibility.
Presentation of Awards
The awards will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of Engineers PEI.

Honorary Life Members
Honorary Life Members shall be persons who are eminent in the engineering profession and who have provided outstanding service to the profession and have been elected to honorary life membership by unanimous vote of Council. Candidates may be proposed by any member by written submission or by the Nominating Committee or Council. Honorary Life Members shall not be entitled to practise unless they are registered or licensed.
The Awards Committee will have the responsibility of reviewing all the nominations for the award to determine whether or not an award is to be given. The Committee will submit its recommendations for the award to Council for approval.
Honorary Life Memberships will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of Engineers PEI.
Engineers Canada Fellowship
In 2007, Engineers Canada created the Engineers Canada Fellowship to honour individuals who have given noteworthy service to the engineering profession in one of the following categories:
| i. |
Engineers who have: |
| |
| a. |
Assumed office as president of the Engineers Canada Board of Directors; or |
| b. |
Assumed office as chair of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board or the Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board; or |
| c. |
Assumed office as president of one of Engineers Canada's constituent members; or |
| d. |
Served the engineering profession in a volunteer capacity for at least 10 years. The total length of service can be a combination of service on Engineers Canada's boards and committees and/or service as a volunteer for an Engineers Canada constituent member; or |
| e. |
Served in a senior staff capacity with in Engineers Canada or a constituent member for a minimum of seven years. |
|
| ii. |
Non-Engineers who have met the requirements of criteria (c), (d) and/or (e) mentioned above. |
Being bestowed with this honour, means that these dedicated individuals have the privilege of using the designation of "Fellow of Engineers Canada" or FEC or of "Honorary Engineers Canada Fellow"-FEC (Hon.).
The Awards Committee will have the responsibility of reviewing all the nominations for the award to determine whether or not an award is to be given.
The Committee will submit its recommendations for the award to Council for approval.
The Engineers Canada Fellowship will normally be presented at the Annual Meeting of Engineers PEI.
